1940s Rust Straw Hat with Plume
A flamboyant and very sculptural looking hat from the 1940s. Elaborately folded and shaped hats were extremely popular during this time period. Created from a heavy synthetic rust colored straw. A rust colored plume with a stem braided from the synthetic straw, embellishes the front of the hat. At the back is a grosgrain ribbon bow. The top of the hat is open. The milliner's label reads, Melbourne Original Design, New York, Detroit.

Vintage Black Hat with Black Feather
A very unique vintage 1940s hat created from what appears to be a type of fur felt with the fur left somewhat long on the outside. The inside of the hat is the typical short fur felt that many hats are made of. The appearance is unusual. On one side of the hat are two groupings of long black feather plumes. The feathers have been inserted through slits in the hat and the tips on the inside are covered with black grosgrain fabric that has been firmly secured to the hat. Milliner's label reads, Edith Brown Detroit.

1940s Straw Tilt Hat with Rose
A perky little straw hat for spring. With materials in short supply, smaller hats became quite fashionable in the 1940s. This little straw hat perches at an angle on the side of the head. A delightful one of a kind vintage hat. No milliner's label. The brim of the hat measures 8 inches from side to side and 9 inches from front to back. 4-1/2 inches from the brim edge to the top of the crown. Inside hatband measurement, 19 inches. Extremely clean inside and out.

Vintage Silk Roses and Pansies Hat
A glorious crown of roses and pansies. Created from stiff netting to which the silk and velvet flowers have been attached. The petals of the pansies are velvet on one side and the roses are a combination of silk and velvet. The edge of the hat is trimmed in a dark pink fabric. Very Fine condition with no damage or repairs. The milliner's label reads, Gay Paree Original.

Vintage Black Straw and Yellow Roses Hat
An elegant hat for that special garden party. Created from black straw with a dramatic picture hat brim. The crown is wrapped with a rose stem to which are attached three pale yellow silk roses. The front of the hat brim is covered in fine black netting that has been delicately pleated.The milliner's label reads, designed by Lora.

Edwardian Horsehair Straw Hat
A charming Edwardian hat created from black horsehair straw with lots of ruffles. In 1861, Queen Victoria's mother and husband died. She became somewhat obsessed with mourning and this ushered in a period of black clothing and jewelry in the fashion world. The wearing of black did not necessarily mean that the wearer was in mourning. This hat was undoubtedly the height of fashion.

Vintage Christian Dior Hat
Tres chic. A very sweet vintage French chapeau created by Christian Dior from deep purple lace and deep purple satin ribbon. The color is nearly navy blue but not quite. A small burgundy satin bow is attached to the side. Lined with stiff deep purple lace. The interior hatband is rolled burgundy satin ribbon. Beautifully crafted, of course. The hat fits closely to the head.

Vintage Christian Dior Hat
A delicious raspberry colored chapeau by Christian Dior created from softly folded wool. The wool is a loose weave with a slightly mottled coloration varying from pale raspberry to medium raspberry. Very high quality fabric. Lined with a heavy black grosgrain fabric. Mint condition. The hat does not appear to have ever been worn.

Vintage Jack McConnell Floral Hat
A millinery extravaganza by Jack McConnell, milliner extraordinaire of New York. The body of the hat is created from an ivory colored stiff strawlike material. An ivory hatband in the same material as the hat surrounds the crown. Edged inside with gold backed ivory lace. Not lined. The lower front edge is embellished with large silk roses in shades of ivory, pale pink, fuchsia and red violet.

Vintage Jack McConnell Crystals Hat
A perfect wedding hat. A one of a kind red feather original created by Jack McConnell himself. Many of the ivory lace petals on this lovely hat have a sparkling Swarovski crystal attached to its tip. The lace is slightly stiff so that the petals retain their perfect shape. Comes with its original hatbox from a shop in Toledo, Ohio that sold designer hats in the 1960s, La Salle and Koch.
