1940s Straw Tilt Hat with Roses

A perky little straw hat for spring. With materials in short supply, smaller hats became quite fashionable in the 1940s. This little straw hat perches at an angle on the side of the head. An elastic chin strap is provided to assist you in keeping it there although I would recommend a hatpin as well. On one side of this natural straw hat is an arrangement of pale pink silk roses. The hatband is comprised of netting which ends at the back in long tails. Very Fine condition with no damage or repairs. The roses are ever so slightly wilted and the whites at their edges are faintly yellow. The glue in some areas has aged to a darker color which has left some spotted areas on the roses. The roses could easily be replaced if one desired. The netting is in perfect condition as is the straw portion of the hat. A delightful one of a kind vintage hat. No milliner's label. The brim of the hat measures 8 inches from side to side and 9 inches from front to back. 4-1/2 inches from the brim edge to the top of the crown. Inside hatband measurement, 19 inches. Extremely clean inside and out.
