From the victorian era, an elegant and beautiful festoon necklace locket. A unique and rare find, particularly in such excellent condition. Created from brass that has been ornately engraved and gold washed. The locket has been engraved on both sides. The engraving is identical on each side. It will hold two pictures and opens and closes very nicely. Plastic picture covers and wire frames to hold it and the images down, are still in place. Nicely detailed chain and stamped brass medallion. Hangs 8-3/4 inches from the throat to the bottom of the locket. The locket itself, is 1-1/2 inches in diameter. The inner chain portion to which the outer pieces of chain are attached, measures 19 inches. The two lengths of chain, attached on either side, measure 6-3/4 inches each. The stamped brass medallion is 5/8 inch in diameter. The necklace closes with a fold over clasp. Extremely Fine condition with no damage or repairs. The gold wash has worn away in most areas allowing the brass, which has aged to a very nice patina, to show through. Not hallmarked. Gift boxed. (The box is not antique or vintage.)
