Antique Victorian Coral Bead Fringe Necklace

Click on a thumbnail image to see enlarged images.

A Victorian era fringe necklace created from brass that has been washed with gold. Coral glass beads dangle from the ornately stamped bookchain. The beads are glass but could easily pass for coral. The color is perfect and not uniform but lightly swirled with varying shades of coral. Coral was extremely popular during this time period, but also quite costly. The caps have been created to look like leaves with a delicately stamped pattern. All of the glass beads are perfect with no cracks or chips. The fringe of beads tapers from 1-5/8 inches long at center to 1/1-4 inches long. The necklace hangs beautifully. The center five fringes are the only ones that vary in length. The necklace is in Extremely Fine condition with no damage, repairs, missing or replaced parts. Some loss of the gold wash allowing the brass to show. The brass has aged to a very nice patina with some very tiny areas of darker tarnish pimarily on the tips of the leaf caps. Closes with a spring ring clasp that is in excellent working condition. Gift boxed.(The box is not antique or vintage.)
