A 1930s hat that is so imaginative that I am at a loss for words. There is no milliner's label but the hat was obviously crafted by a skilled milliner. One of the disadvantages of no milliner's label is that I am not absolutely positive that my model is wearing the hat as it was intended to be worn. Created from a very fine gauge synthetic straw in a warm taupe colour. All edges of the straw have been stitched with a deep rust color grosgrain ribbon. The crown of the hat has been molded with tear drop shaped indents. One side of the hat features two dramatic sprays of feathers in colours of rust and pale ochre. One spray has been placed beneath the synthetic straw flap on which the first spray is attached. The flap is held in place with a glass topped hatpin. Glass beads have been slid onto the quills of each of the feathers. The feathers of the central portion of the spray have been trimmed to form a circle. Extremely Fine condition with no damage, repairs or strange odors. The hat shows no signs of having ever been worn. The feathers are in perfect condition. Size Medium-Large, 22-1/2 inches. This is a hat that does fit down around the head rather than sitting on top so please do measure your head before purchasing if you intend to wear it.
